Candidate Profiles

Sherry Fithen

About Me

Hello my names is Sherry Fithen, I moved to Edgerton 4 years ago in 2021 with my family. I am retired and enjoy spending my time with my grandchildren and gardening. I enjoy meeting people and learning new things.

Why I’m Running

Since July of 2024 I have attended each Council Meeting by Zoom . I have enjoyed learning about Council's wide involvement in the community, learning about Bylaws, procedures and how the Village runs in day to day operations. I have found that Council is friendly and open with each other, as that cooperation is the way things get done. I have decided to run for Council to help keep the Village moving forward.

What I Hope to Accomplish

I would like to see an increase in recreation for our kids and teenagers, not just as Hockey, but as Playgrounds, Parks, the Walking Trail, events at our AG Hall and the Library. I want to add focus to our community events and our families.

Wanda Herbert

About Me

Hello my name is Wanda Herbert. I was raised in Edgerton, I left in the early nineties and returned in 2003 to manage the Hotel. At the end of said year I made arrangements to acquire ownership and I am still operating the business today. In 2004 I also made arrangements to acquire a hair shop, (which I now rent a space and continue with my second small business a well).

Why I’m Running

Having been on council before I am aware of the challenges that arise. My loyalty to Edgerton has prompted me to run again to keep our little village healthy and growing. I have a passion to keep our store fronts open and locally owned. I believe local events and organizations are also key to our community. The more we keep (and support) in town the better.

What I Hope to Accomplish

Families are also important to our village-it is an asset to maintain and support our local Arena, Curling Rink, Golf Course and other facilities. I support yearly improvements to our infrastructure to insure population maintenance and growth.

Della Hughes

About Me

My name is Della Hughes, I have lived in Edgerton for the last 25 years and I am running for a spot on our Village Council. I am currently on Council, having run for the first time in 2021.

Why I’m Running

I love our little community and how well we are moving forward. In the past four years, I have been able to contribute my vote to getting our valves, paving, lagoon and sidewalks upgraded. I also want to continue voting in ways that help our Public Works and Village Office Staff to continue doing the hard work they put into our Village.

What I Hope to Accomplish

I want us to continue to see our valves, paving and sidewalks upgraded. I hope to see Edgerton continue to grow in population and with business opportunities.

Brett Merrill

About Me

My name is Brett Merrill, and I’m a candidate for the Edgerton Village Council. I am a trade machinist and industrial distribution agent. Just over a year ago, my wife, Katie, and I chose to make this community our home, and we’re so glad we did. Shortly after moving here, we welcomed our firstborn, Avery, and we are thrilled to be raising our family in this safe, friendly environment.

Why I’m Running

Since moving here, I’ve been seeking a way to give back and become more involved in the community. My wife and I have fallen in love with the small-town feel and the essentials it provides, and I want to help grow the village while maintaining that charm. I believe my experience, diverse perspective, and desire to serve can help support the council in building stronger relationships between long-time residents and young families.

What I Hope to Accomplish

My primary goal is to increase our economic presence. By attracting new businesses and supporting our existing ones, we can create a more vibrant and prosperous community for everyone. I'm also committed to maintaining and growing our community's essential assets, such as playgrounds, and will work to support our library, daycare, arena, and curling rink.

Lenny Waddell

About Me

My name is Leonard (Lenny) Waddell, I have lived in the Village of Edgerton since 2002. My family and myself are involved in many boards and committees, within Edgerton. I enjoy golfing and sharing a cup of coffee with fellow Villagers.

Why I’m Running

After being acclimated onto Council, in December of 2020, and starting my role in January of 2021, I've been able to apply my first hand knowledge of business to help shape how the Village invests back in itself. The last 2 years on Council I have applied my vote to getting infrastructure work brought back up to an efficient and working standard. I have decided to run again to continue with the work we have been doing for the last 4 years.

What I Hope to Accomplish

I would like to see the hard work we have accomplished continued, our work on the valves, water infrastructure, streets, sidewalks and community businesses. I believe continuing forward with our hard work and dedication, not just from Council but our Staff as well, will make the Village an even better place to live in.

Kaylan White

About Me

My name is Kaylan White, and I’ve called Edgerton home since 2008. My wife Sheena and I are raising our two very active kids here, when I can I also enjoy helping on our family farm in Ribstone. I work as a Pipeline Integrity Supervisor for Teine Energy out of the Chauvin office. I’m passionate about community, teamwork, and making Edgerton a great place to live.

Why I’m Running

Edgerton has given so much to my family, and I want to give back. I believe in strong leadership, common-sense decision-making, and listening to residents so every voice is heard.

What I Hope to Accomplish

  • Keep taxes fair and spending responsible
  • Invest in services and infrastructure that matter most
  • Support growth while protecting our small-town character
