Outflow Channel Takes Shape with Final Grading and Coconut Matting

One of the most visually significant developments has been the final grading and installation of coconut matting on the outflow channel. This crucial component will safely and naturally direct treated water from the new lagoon.

  • Precision Grading: Our dedicated construction crews meticulously completed the final grading of the channel. This precise shaping ensures the correct flow and prevents erosion, contributing to the long-term stability and functionality of the system.
  • Eco-Friendly Erosion Control: We're proud to share that we've installed coconut matting along the outflow channel. This natural, biodegradable material provides excellent erosion control, allowing vegetation to establish while protecting the soil. It's an environmentally conscious solution that aligns with our commitment to sustainability. The natural fibers will eventually decompose, leaving behind a naturally stabilized channel.

Laying the Foundation: Site Prep for the New Lagoon

Before the main construction of the lagoon could begin, significant site preparation was necessary. This involved carefully preparing the designated area to ensure a stable and level base for the new infrastructure.

  • Ground Stripping: The initial phase involved ground stripping, where topsoil and any unsuitable materials were carefully removed from the lagoon footprint. This step is essential to reach stable subgrade and prevent any potential issues with the lagoon's structural integrity.
  • Precision Leveling: Following the stripping, extensive leveling work was undertaken. Using specialized equipment, the ground was meticulously graded to the precise elevations required for the lagoon design. This ensures proper water containment and efficient treatment processes.

Final Touches on the Force Main Dirt Work

Simultaneously, significant progress has been made on the force main, the pipeline that will carry wastewater to the new lagoon.

  • Backfilling and Contouring: With the pipeline safely installed, the focus shifted to the final dirt work. This involved carefully backfilling the trench, ensuring proper compaction to protect the pipe and restore the landscape.
  • Restoring the Surface: Our teams have worked diligently to contour the land along the force main route, minimizing disruption and blending it seamlessly with the surrounding environment. This final dirt work is a crucial step in completing this essential piece of infrastructure.

Looking Ahead

These recent advancements mark significant steps forward in the Lagoon and Force Main Project. We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our construction crews and project management team.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to progress towards the completion of this vital project for the Village of Edgerton. We are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way!
