Village of Edgerton News
October 2018
Edgerton Public School
   Mayor Wendy Belik and CAO Al Gordon had a chance to stop and visit with Mrs. Seifried’s Grade 3/4 class on October 18. Topics of discussion ranged from waste disposal and management options to some new green space initiatives to the importance of historical sites and providing parks for the community. We are always excited at the opportunity to collaborate with the school and to engage with the leaders of tomorrow!
   We would also like to send a huge congratulations to the Edgerton Public School for winning their Food Bank Challenge! Edgerton was able to collect an incredible 1,085 pounds of food, defeating Paradise Valley’s E.H. Walter School in their competition. The Challenge was a part of the FCC Food Drive Away Hunger Campaign, with all proceeds going towards the Wainwright Food Bank. Congratulations to all the schools and individuals that participated in the Campaign and thank you for supporting the Food Bank and all their crucial work in our area.

Village of Edgerton Staff
   There have been some big changes in the Village of Edgerton staff! We would like to welcome Max McMillan to our team as the Village’s new Assistant Foreman of Public Works. We are also excited to announce that Judy Dickson is now the Village Office Administrator.
   Furthermore, we regret to share that Jane Scott has resigned her position with the Village of Edgerton. Jane was a huge part of our community’s success and ensured that the municipality ran smoothly for 20 years. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours.
   The Village is embracing change and we look forward to the strengths of our new team members and their contribution to the Friendly Oasis.

Edgerton Plumbing
   Edgerton Plumbing has been busy implementing some new aspects to what we offer the community. A contest giveaway was held on social media, with Sylvia Enstrom winning a free furnace inspection! We would also like to encourage everyone else that now is a great time to make sure your home is ready for winter and that no nasty surprises are waiting for you!
   We have also begun a “Tuesdays Tips & Tricks” feature! Each Tuesday Kendall will be sharing some quick pieces of advice and we hope they can help save you time, money, and hassle. We ask everyone to keep in mind that when in doubt, please consult a professional. Edgerton Plumbing is your local plumbing and heating specialist, here to serve Edgerton and area! Make sure to get a hold of Kendall at 780-806-1977 for help with questions, concerns, or to setup a time for him to stop in.

Street Paving
   Paving on 49 Ave, 55 Ave, 51 St, and 52 St was completed in early October. We were pleased to have this project completed and we hope residents living in that area are enjoying the new pavement!

Edgerton Hub/Edgerton Benefits
   The Edgerton Hub has been re-named Edgerton Benefits and is now live here! While this feature is an ongoing project, there are noteworthy features for everyone to check out. We’ve also had some early successes!
   Benefits is intended to act as a digital bulletin board for our community, including:
• 17 community groups listed, focusing on their activities, meeting dates, and how to get involved;
• 5 municipalities’ tax and utility information provided for comparison;
• 1 employment opportunity thus far. We have seen great success with this, having received twenty applications as a result of it being cross-posted to, free of charge;
• 4 realtors active in the area included;
• 25 municipal lots for sale.

Remembrance Day
   This year’s Remembrance Day falls on Sunday, November 11. The service will be held at 11:00AM at the Edgerton Agricultural Hall. We look forward to seeing a full Hall as the community gathers to commemorate past and present serving men and women.
   The Village Office will be closed Monday, November 12 as a result.

Edgerton Waste Transfer Site
   We would like to remind residents that as of October 1 the Waste Transfer Site is operating according to the winter hours. The Transfer Site is now open from 2:00PM-4:30PM Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 10:00AM-2:00PM on Saturdays.

Upcoming Events:
